The Medical Assisting Program at Essential Medical and Mental Health Institute (EMMI) prepares students for both the clinical and administrative responsibilities of today's healthcare environment.

Medical Assistants may work in physician offices, clinics, hospitals, urgent care centers, ambulatory care facilities, specialty practices, and other healthcare settings.

Students receive training in:

• Specimen collection and handling
• Infection control and aseptic techniques
• OSHA safety standards
• Professionalism and patient communication

Students develop essential skills for supporting individuals experiencing mental health, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Training includes:

• Mental health disorders and behavioral health fundamentals
• Therapeutic communication
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation
• Patient observation and documentation
• HIPAA, ethics, and professional boundaries
• Basic pharmacology
• Patient care and safety

Graduates may pursue opportunities in psychiatric hospitals, behavioral health facilities, residential treatment programs, rehabilitation centers, and community mental health settings.

Graduates are prepared to pursue the Mental Health Technician Certification (MHTC) through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).

Essential Medical and Mental Health Institute (EMMI) offers CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid, and AED training for healthcare professionals and members of the community.

Training follows current American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines and provides participants with hands-on instruction in lifesaving techniques and emergency response.

Courses include:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Heartsaver® CPR & AED
• Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR & AED

Training is provided by an American Heart Association BLS/CPR Instructor and is designed to help participants develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to respond effectively during an emergency.
